While most will love this tiny house experience, the cabins are a bit close to each other and it’s not completely remote and isolated. However, each cabin is private and they look on to open landscapes so you never feel like you’re on top of each other.

Blair Athol Estate is the ultimate couples retreat in Hunter Valley. Nestled on 800 acres of wildlife sanctuary and farmland, it’s ideal for those looking for a romantic getaway with no other guests in sight.
This luxury boutique accommodation boasts more than just a remote setting. The rustic buildings are complete with modern designer bathrooms, and gorgeous open plan living areas. Coupled with log fires, hot tubs and a personal golf cart to explore the estate, you won’t want to leave.
The hospitality of the owners adds another layer of luxury. They’re passionate about service and quality and offer a unique touch that will enhance your experience. From beautifully arranged food platters, cheese boards and breakfast hampers to organising massages, tours and more, they are brilliant hosts and will make your stay extra special.
Blair Athol Estate is certainly at the top of my list as far as romantic getaways in Hunter Valley go! And if you’re travelling in a group or with children, you’ll be please to know that there is also a 2-bedroom lodge available.

The village of Wollombi is just 10 minutes away but you’re going to have to drive a bit further to get to the wineries which are about 30 minutes. So, plan ahead and book a wine tasting tour before coming home to your idyllic retreat.

For a perfectly luxurious stay, I recommend The Hunter Suites. Featuring a king-size bed, with a separate living room and a luxury bathroom with a rain shower head and deep bath, it has been designed to soothe the soul. In total, the 49 rooms make Spicers Guesthouse a popular venue for Hunter Valley retreats and weddings.
The on-site eRemo Restaurant offers an unmatched gastronomic experience featuring modern contemporary Italian cuisine – a favourite for all foodies.
A standout feature has to be the sparkling infinity pool. On a warm summer’s day, you’d want nothing more than to be lazing on the day beds with a glass of bubbly in hand as you overlook the countryside. And there’s even a fire pit to enjoy the evenings and dazzling night sky.
With its inviting and homely atmosphere, Spicers Guesthouse is the kind of place you want to for a romantic escape in Hunter Valley.

Spicers Guesthouse is also a wedding venue so be sure to book a room that’s furthest from all the celebrations (unless you’re joining them!).

Best for large groups of travellers looking for luxury Hunter Valley accommodation, their seven-bedroom house, Mio Monte, is made to entertain. With gorgeous sliding doors opening onto views of the countryside and a stone fireplace, it’s sophisticated, easy living. You’ll also enjoy a private pool and barbecue – it’s the perfect summer getaway in the Winelands.
If you’re looking for a more intimate experience for two, Villa Vino is the newest addition to Winmark Wine Estate. There are two different accommodation types available, but their luxury spa suites are my favourite. The rain shower, spa bathtub, heated floors, and bluestone fireplace make it the perfect couples retreat.
And there’s more! Spicers Vineyards Estate is home to Restaurant Botanica, renowned for its innovative and delicious cuisine. And if you decide to give the wine tasting a skip, head over to Spa Anise where you can spoil yourself (and your partner) to a luxurious range of massages and treatments.
Spicers Vineyard Estate is also pet friendly so you can bring your furry friends along on your romantic Hunter Valley escape!
Things to consider
With all the added amenities including an outdoor pool, restaurant and spa, Spicers Vineyard Estate does offer a lot more than most romantic accommodation options in Hunter Valley, but some travellers may prefer something more isolated and private.

You’ll be treated to a wide selection of exotic teas, cereals, nuts and, possibly even wines. Helicopter rides, hot air ballooning – leave it to them and they’ll organize pick up and drop offs right on your front lawn!
As the sun starts to set, take in the incredible colours and sounds, with kangaroos hopping around. This may be one of the most beautiful places in Hunter Valley.

With 70 rooms available, the experience at Vovo Kirkton Park is by no means intimate and isolated. But it’s great for couples looking for a luxury hotel that comes complete with additional features and amenities.

Chateau Elan at The Vintage

- Best for: Couples looking to treat themselves to spa days and delicious cuisine
The Vintage is one of Australia’s finest golf and spa resorts. Conveniently, it also has the perfect location for guests to explore the famous wineries and restaurants.
Chateau Elan boasts luxury accommodation paired with a comprehensive offering of amenities including an award-winning spa, outdoor swimming pool and the famed Legends Grill restaurant.
With a variety of room types available, guests have a choice between luxury spa suites, spacious villas or 2-bedroom apartments.
You may prefer the villa with its designer kitchen but personally, the spa suite is my top choice. Why? Well, it comes complete with a deep soak double bathtub and the bed is a king-sized ergonomic wonder! The massage settings offer a zero-gravity function – made for the perfect night’s rest.
This Hunter Valley resort has an idyllic setting, surrounded by picturesque landscapes and vineyards. It’s only 6 km from the famous Tempus Two winery – home to one of the largest cellar doors in the area.
Things to consider
If you want to be pampered and wine and dine with an on-call concierge, Chateau Elan at The Vintage is for you. But if you prefer something a bit lower-key, you might want to look at the other Hunter Valley luxury accommodation options on this list.

There’s no arguing that Hunter Valley is one of the most popular destinations in NSW. It’s perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries, birthday celebrations and other special occasions.

All I can say is that in an area renowned for its exceptional wines, the accommodations have followed suit. For a remote escape, I highly recommend Cedars Mount View or The Edge Villa.
And if you’d prefer something closer to the wineries, Tuckers Lane is another great option.
