Famous for its white sandy beaches and clear blue waters, Jervis Bay is the go-to destination for Sydney-siders looking to escape the big city. Accommodation in the area may get booked out months in advance but when it comes to camping, you’ll be spoiled for choice.
You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to Jervis Bay camping sites, from secluded unpowered campgrounds alongside the beach to family-friendly holiday parks with impressive facilities.

Best Jervis Bay Camping Sites
Made up of the picturesque beach villages of Huskisson, Hyams Beach and Currarong, as well as the famous Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay is a perfect summer destination.
Here are my top campgrounds to visit during your next trip.
1. The Best Campsite in Jervis Bay: Hidden Creek Campground
What I love: The creek-facing campsites with firepits
The downsides: Toilets are a bit far
Located just a short 5-minute drive from Huskisson lies Hidden Creek Campground in Jervis Bay. The campsites are nestled amongst 5 acres of bushland with direct access to Currambene Creek, which flows alongside the property.
With kangaroos hopping through the campsites, open fires permitted, and a secluded, wild atmosphere, what’s not to love?
While the campground is remote and rustic, you won’t have to compromise on comfort. The amenities include a communal camp kitchen and clean, flushing toilets. Hot water showers are also available, and they require $1 to operate for 4 minutes. This system has been put in place to conserve water which I’m fully supportive of – and it’s the best 4-minute shower you’ll ever have!
There are a variety of camping sites to choose from, including powered and unpowered sites, which are all nestled in the beautiful forest.
When making your booking, I highly recommend you ask for the unpowered water site. You can’t beat the location, as your tent opens up to views of the creek. Unfortunately, these sites are further away from the toilets, but it’s a small price to pay for the views and setting.
This is one of my favourite camping sites, so if you’re looking for a relaxing weekend in nature, I rate it the best campground in Jervis Bay.
Things to know about Hidden Creek Campground
- No music or noise from 10 pm
- Firewood and ice can be purchased from the reception
- Cabins are also available (but you can’t beat the location of the campsites)
- Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards can be rented
2. The best drive-in campsite: Green Patch Camping Area
What I love: The location next to the beach
The downsides: In high demand, so camping sites are often booked out
If you’re planning a Jervis Bay camping weekend, chances are you’ve heard of Green Patch.
Why? Because Green Patch is one of the most popular campsites in Jervis Bay. It’s often booked out months in advance so you need to get in early to secure your spot.
Located in the Booderee National Park, Green Patch offers a variety of walk-in and drive-in sites. Open fires are not permitted at your campsite but there are designated fireplaces that you can use.
Camping here is an ideal base for your Jervis Bay adventures. It’s centrally located between Hyams Beach and Murrays Beach, and the surfing hotspot of Caves Beach is only a 5-minute drive away.
Those who camp at Green Patch Campground will immerse themselves in nature as there are several walking trails nearby and the campsite is frequented by possums, parrots and other birdlife.

- The area can get busy with day visitors exploring Green Patch Beach
3. The most iconic Jervis Bay campground: Honeymoon Bay
What I love: The snorkelling
Downsides: Bookings based on a first-come, first-served basis
Honeymoon Bay is one of the most picturesque camping sites in Jervis Bay. The small, sheltered bay is located in the northern head and offers the perfect escape for travellers who are looking to laze on the beach, snorkel or paddle in the calm, tranquil waters.
But getting a spot here is not easy, even though there are over 60 campsites available!
During the summer holidays, bookings are based on a ballot system. Outside of this peak period, it’s first come, first served, so it’s best to have a backup plan in case the sites are all taken. The campsite opens at 1 p.m., but get here before 12 to secure your spot.
Unfortunately, camping at Honeymoon Bay is only allowed on weekends and public holidays. Why? Because it’s owned by the Royal Australian Navy and is used as a base for their training during the week.
The campsite itself is rustic with no power and no running water. But there are portaloos!
Things to know about Honeymoon Bay
- No open fires
- It’s a crowd favourite so the beach gets busy during the day
- No pets allowed
4. The best campsite in Booderee National Park: Cave Beach Campground
What I love: Kangaroos on the campsite
Downsides: Walk-in campsite
Deeper into the Booderee National Park and just a stone’s throw away from the best surf break in Jervis Bay, lives Caves Beach Campground. The secluded campsite has plenty of grass areas to laze on and is frequented by kangaroos and other wildlife.
Cave Beach camping is a favourite amongst surfers and travellers who want to get away from the more popular campsites in Jervis Bay, such as Green Patch and Honeymoon Bay.
The sites are unpowered and the facilities are basic – cold showers and flushing toilets are available close to the campsites. Open fires are permitted and there are a few gas BBQ’s for campers to use.
The campground is a 300m downhill walk from the parking area, so keep that in mind if you’re travelling with lots of camping gear. Going down might be easy, but heading back up is a different story.
5. Bristol Point Campground
What I love: Bushwalking trails nearby
Downsides: Often booked out months in advance
Situated next to Green Patch Campground in the Booderee National Park lies Bristol Point. Offering a similar setting alongside the beach, Bristol Point Campground is not as popular as its neighbour.
As a result, it offers a more secluded and peaceful atmosphere for those hoping to avoid the crowds.
Bristol Point is a walk-in campground only so it’s not suitable for campervans and camper trailers. But the parking area is very close to the campsites and if you have a lot of gear, you won’t park more than 50 m away from your site.
Hot showers and flushing toilets are available and campers will be pleased to know that open fires are permitted.

Best Holiday Parks in Jervis Bay
Some people prefer Holiday Parks to National Parks. If you have children or a large camper trailer, Holiday Parks may be your only option.
Or, if all of the other campsites in Jervis Bay are booked out, you might have little choice but to stay at a Holiday Park instead.
6. Holiday Haven Currarong
What I love: Amazing facilities for kids
Downsides: It doesn’t have that wild, remote vibe (but no holiday parks do, I guess)
If you’re looking for powered camp sites, hot water showers and you’re a fan of holiday parks, Holiday Haven Currarong is one of the best camping grounds in Jervis Bay.
With a range of accommodation options available, from camping to caravanning and even cabins, you’re sure to find something here.
The campsite sits alongside a creek, where you can go fishing or kayaking. If you prefer an ocean swim, pristine beaches are just a short walk away. Nearby is the picturesque Honeymoon Bay.
With sparkling clean amenities, Holiday Haven Currarong in Jervis Bay caters to all ages, young and old and you won’t have to sacrifice your homely comforts if you stay here.
Your kids will love it too – there’s a swimming pool, jumping pillow and mini-golf course.

7. Holiday Haven Whitesands
What I love: The location alongside Huskisson Beach
Downsides: It can get crowded
As with Holiday Haven Currarong, Holiday Haven Whitesands offers some of the best campsites in Jervis Bay if you’re travelling with family and looking for clean and comfortable amenities.
Located in Huskisson, its central location, close to the famous Hyams Beach and other Jervis Bay attractions, makes Holiday Haven Whitesands stand out from the rest.
There’s a kids playground, camp kitchen and BBQ facilities. But if it’s privacy and space you’re looking for, I recommend you head to one of the other campgrounds in Jervis Bay because it can get busy here!

8. Jervis Bay Holiday Park
What I love: Kayaking along the creek
Jervis Bay Holiday Park is located just a stone’s throw away from Hidden Creek Campground, alongside Currambene Creek in Jervis Bay.
The campsites are surrounded by trees and wildlife, and it’s a quieter setting compared to the other holiday parks in Jervis Bay. The campsites are also a decent size and the staff are super friendly.
Stand-up paddleboards, Go Karts, and Kayaks can be rented from the reception, and there is a playground and a heated pool close to the campsites. There’s also a boat ramp and direct access to the creek.

The Best Places to go Camping at Jervis Bay
Each of these 8 Jervis Bay camping sites has something special to offer – whether it’s beach views, open fires, playgrounds or just the secluded atmosphere.
There are so many incredible options for you to choose from and you’ll be spoiled for choice. My favourite spot to go camping at Jervis Bay is Hidden Creek Campground but if you’d prefer to be close to all the action, Green Patch might be a better option for you.
If you’re looking for a holiday park and prefer to be close to the beach, Holiday Haven Currarong is pretty impressive but if you’d rather spend your time at a more relaxed holiday park on a creek, then you can’t go wrong with Jervis Bay Holiday Park.
